What to Expect
This will be a most pleasant and
hospitable afternoon. You will have an
inside look at one of Allentown's grand
historic homes plus an optional stroll
through the gardens with your questions
answered by our gardening presenters.
Drawing upon Allentown's designation as
an Audubon Bird Town, the presentations
will focus on promoting backyard
habitats that create food and shelter
for birds and fauna. Claudia is a
consultant to the PA Land Trust and
owner of Botanical Inventory.
Barbara is Vice
President
of the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society
and co-author of Birds of
the Lehigh Valley and Vicinity.
There will be three sets of lovely
chamber music played by our musicians
which you can enjoy while sipping wine
or tasting elegant tidbits.
Casual attire is welcomed. The event
will be held rain or shine (there is
ample indoor space and covered patios.)

If you missed this, it's a shame.
Here
is a story about the show from The Morning Call.
Revelations - the concert on March 5, 2011
We heard some incredible music and
watched art being created at the same time
The orchestra performed BACH's Goldberg Variations
while artist, Abie Harris, painted.
Meta Weiss performed wizardry on the cello as the
evening's soloist.
Lift Your Voice!
Thursday, January 27 - Sunday,
January 30, 2011
Back by Popular Demand!
Sinfonia's FAITH! "Clash of
the Valley Choirs" gospel choir extravaganza
took a new direction in its third year on
January 27-30th, 2011.
We had packed houses at Foy Hall, First
Presbyterian Church and also Christ Lutheran
Church where Essence of Joy under the direction
of Dr. Tony Leach rocked the rafters with
incredible gospel music!
Over 1200 people participated as choir members,
students, audience, and workshop participants in
a weekend-long inspiring celebration of gospel
music with guest clinician, Dr. Anthony Leach.
His choir from Penn State, Essence of Joy,
performed on Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church to
a packed house - even with the snowy weather!
Stay tuned for plans for another year's
workshop!

This past year's Scary
Sinfonia
Saturday, October 30, 2010
Reception: 6:00 - 7:00 pm
Concert: 7:30 pm
Allen Organ, Macungie
Scary Sinfonia is back for
another year on Saturday, October 30 at Octave
Hall, Allen Organ Headquarters. Concert goers
can come in costume (optional) and enjoy
ghoulish goodies and live music (including organ
and string quartet) performed by members of the
PA Sinfonia Orchestra. This year, Allentown
Public Theatre joins the orchestra with a
presentation of Edgar Allan Poe's A Tell-Tale
Heart.
Perhaps the most unique instrumental Halloween
treat of the evening, however, is a one-person
"spoken opera", a piece performed by PA Sinfonia
string bassist (and narrator) Nancy Merriam. The
three-movement piece by Jon Deak is titled "The
Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (The Hound of the
Baskervilles)" which uses text by Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle. The piece will require Nancy to
play bass, narrate the dialogue of six
characters, and produce interesting sound
effects on her bass.
Lots of good music and fun will be programmed
around a Halloween theme! Read the
whole story.
The pre-concert reception (separate charge) will
begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by the concert at
7:30 p.m.
Admission is $15 for the concert, $35 for the
concert and pre-concert reception.
This is a fundraiser for the
Sinfonia.
These pictures from last year
(also courtesy of Diana Morse) show some of the
fun.
